SlumberNapped Devlog #16 (Nov 2025) update.

Hello everyone, here's the progress for this month's update.

I have finally finished 90% on the overworld, leaving just the endgame state and 2 mini games, but all the other content is done, and you can play through to the horror-themed nightmare now.

I did another pass on the card shop, implementing a hold "a" to buy system instead of a yes/no question dialogue box. Also, when you get a new card, you can choose if it goes into your inventory or a party member's deck.

The new secondary combo system is working and just needs a few tweaks to be done.

Oh, this is a big one. I optimized the ever lovin' heck out of the code that processes the external json translation/text files and loads them into the game. Turns out I misunderstood how those functions returned the data, and now I'm handling it the right way. Not having a computer science degree bit me in the butt there. But Good news, the game now runs buttery smooth, and a lot of the weird lag on menu screens and room loading is gone!

The first portion of the horror Nightmare is nearly finished. I need to write one more dialog box introducing a character. I've moved on to the rest of the nightmare, though I'm currently building the rest of the levels. Also had to fix the way the game was adding nearby monsters to fights because it wasn't working as intended.

Here's some gifs for you enjoyment. The first is from the telescope "toy" that I use for an optional bit of storytelling. The second is one of the minigames that is accessible from the overworld,
