SlumberNapped DEMO progress. Devlog #2

I've been working on the Demo for the game and making some good progress toward getting it closer to release.

But let's answer a bigger question about how close the game is to completion. Below is a graph of my best estimates of how finished everything is as of this post.

Some things to note:

Anything labeled "outline " in the writing section has been outlined as far as the story, character motivations, and gameplay events are concerned.

A question you might be asking yourself is if the intro and first island are 100% finished why is the demo not finished? The answer to that question has to do with the fact that the demo has been split into its own project. I'm currently editing the demo project so it only includes what's needed for the demo. Happily, my efforts to keep the different parts of the game as modular as possible have paid off, and editing out the unneeded parts of the demo has gone more smoothly than I thought it would.

I didn't make a section for music because I'm currently using royalty-free content, I'd love a custom soundtrack but I don't know if I can afford it, If the game gains a lot of support It'd be the first thing I add.

I'm currently almost done with Dream 1. The only parts that aren't done are a cutscene and the AI and mechanic for the final boss but other than that It's fully playable and just needs an editor to look at the writing and a final polish pass.

The base tile set art for Dreams 2-4 is done and just the custom one-off art remains for those Areas.

The world map is done but needs to change to the world state, currently, everything just exists and is accessible for testing purposes.

The town is built but there are no NPC's and none of the shops are done yet.

I expect that Dreams 2-4 will be faster to develop than Dream 1 because many of the systems were still being finished and improved at the time it was started.

Anyway I know it's kind of a dry post so I'll leave you with a small piece of concept art. Be sure to follow me for more news when the demo is out!
