SlumberNapped Devlog #11 post spooky limbo (November) update.
The grind continues,
Anyway, I'm making good progress but the overworld while not huge has proved to require more work than I originally planned. I find myself not being satisfied until the world feels fleshed out in a way that allows me to forget that I'm the one making everything and just enjoy the game world. Hopefully, players will enjoy it too.
Here's some statistics about the game so far. Some of these are surprising because I haven't taken the time to look at the numbers until now.
- Sprites: 1,245
- I just finished a sprite with 87 frames of animation. I've conservatively estimated that I've probably done 5,000+ frames of animation.
- Game Objects:947
- Rooms:162
- Custom font with 398 pixel art characters
- about 6,000 lines of dialogue and UI text
- 87 monsters, with only 2 sets of 3 plate swapped types for a total of 89.
- 58 inventory items.
- 112 battle cards.
Anyway, I'll be going over my planning documents this week to see if I can trim some of the chaff and scope creep that's been added over the years I have to admit to myself that my original plans were too ambitious and I would like to finish this game.
LOL reading over this I can see the the dawning realization of how much work I've done as I look at the numbers, there's a definite tone change from that first paragraph that I'm going to leave here.
